TADO – Beautiful Crazy Vector Wonderland
« Vector Art Revolution | 123-Klan, Graphic Snipers in the Name ... »
TADO is Katie & Mike, a hard working couple with extraordinary vector art skills. Mike and Katie founded TADO back in 2001 whilst they were still at university. Housed up in their ‘little agency’ in Sheffield, UK, TADO’s fire of inspiration will be felt for a long time to come.
It’s hard not to be affected by the dynamic duo because they exhibit such enthusiasm for life and art. They’re called ‘cute’ not only for their vector illustrations but in personality, they’re a little whacky as well. Mike and Katie embrace everything cute and adorable. They’re enjoying the fruits of their labor now as they are beginning to bag more and more dynamic projects that let them work their style.
Mike and Katie met when they were studying in college. Their teacher served as their mentor and eventual matchmaker. Upon graduating, they live and work together in Sheffield, UK; and in 2001, TADO was born. Working fearlessly into the dead of the night, they started carving a niche for themselves. The characters that they conjure up while tormenting each other with crack-up jokes are full of life despite their simplicity.
The above vector illustration is one of our personal favorites because it’s simply too cute; it’s adorable with a hint of funk.
Focused on carving an artistic world of enthusiasm and enjoyment, this couple proves through the long list of happy clients that the feeling of happiness can, indeed, be spread.
The above is a simple illustration of how simplicity can work in favor of the vector illustrator. They’ve mentioned in an interview that even if ‘cute’ was no longer the ‘in’ thing, they would remain in style and will try to adapt their work to be more ‘current’.
But that’s just a hypothetical situation because ‘cute’ will never be out-of-fashion.
The black blob is a hot favorite!
Mike and Katie are inspired, easily, by other vector artists as well, including Genviève Gauckler, Geoff McFetridge, Nathan Jurevicius, Friends With You, etc. and judging from the range of their vector illustrations, it’s not hard to see why they are obsessed with Japan-based Razor Ramen. Cute is very Japanese, you see.
The cute couple collaborators spend a whole pile of their coins on toys – therefore, is it any wonder that Toy2R and AdFunture wanted them on board? TADO will most probably be instrumental in helping these companies come up with their own toy series.
The ‘Hail TADO’ vector illustration describes very accurately what they are about – turning disaster into a fun situation that everyone can enjoy and have fun with.
